Also known as "Il Palazzotto", the d'Avalos-Laurelli palace looks out on Piazza Trento e Trieste. The building was erected in 1694 at the behest of Prince Diego d'Avalos, a descendant of the noble family of the D'Avalos, who came to Italy in the wake of Alfonso I of Aragon. Past the local University in 1745, the building was damaged by the earthquake of 1805. In 1830 it was bought by Don Onofrio Laurelli who took care of the reconstruction according to the neoclassical style of the time. Over time, the Palace has hosted the most representative offices of the city.
