Nestled at the foot of the Touwsberg, on the banks of the Touws River, lies Wolverfontein Farm. This farm, just off the present day Route 62, was established in 1890 with the building of Moreson Manor. This “Volstruis Palais” (Ostrich Palace), built at the height of the Ostrich Feather boom, and now a private residence, is your reception to the two accommodation options on offer – Zara Cottage and D’Waenhuis. The Touwsberg, a spectacular granite edifice, lies between Barrydale and Ladismith, and is part of the Touwsberg Private Game Reserve. This pristine area offers the visitor unparalled access to the flora and fauna of the semi arid region of the Cape called The Klein Karoo. Both Zara Cottage and Die Waanhuis have uninterrupted views of the Touws River valley. Zara Cottage was built in the 1930’s and sleeps up to six in three bedrooms. The main bedroom comes with en suite bathroom. A shared bathroom services the remaining two bedrooms. Cottage is self catering. D’Waenhuis is a restored farm building dating to the late 1800s. Today it's a self catering retreat for romantic couples D'Waenhuis has high Oregon ceilings and is packed with plenty of character and retro delights.
