Exceptional

Pros: This remote location amid the hills was perfect. The enclosed veranda facing south was a great bonus. It was a beautiful location. Cons: The booking.com information did not make clear that access to the place was on a very rugged rock road barely passable with a 2WD or that the road to the region was also rough gravel where having a spare tyre was essential as flats are common. There was no mention of being out of phone range. My friend found the gravity flow shower difficult.

Once we got there, it was a peaceful time. Good hiking trail.

An amazing location and a comfortable relaxing house. A nice reset!

Fantastic experience

Pros: Loved the isolation, tranquility and the bird life, walking trails. Liked the modern facilities, good appliances and decent shower. Did appreciate the availability of reading material onsite, also close access to Arkaroola for phone coverage and a meal. Cons: I found the double bed to be very hard, gave me an achey back in morning. Would of appreciated access to wood for fire, as my supply I brought ran out pretty quickly.

Gammon good time

Pros: The frog living in the bathroom was so cute !! Such a peaceful place listing to the birds at the tank in the morning and evenings. Was lucky enough to watch a few Little Rock wallabies having a drink from the tank ! Cons: Well the big spider who thought he’d live in the bedroom wasn’t great but we ushered him outside.

Pros: Outstanding location. Cons: We were given the wrong PIN number for the combination lock with the keys. Because the location is remote with no phone or internet we had to drive to the nearest location where we could make a phone call. The contact number we had been provided for contacting the accommodation turned out to be incorrect as well. After a series of phone calls we eventually managed to obtain the correct PIN code to access property.

Terrible start but a good stay.

Pros: The location around 2 km off the main road into Arkaroola was beautiful. The cabin was spacious and the bed was comfortable. It had a nice lounge area with wood fire and a screened verandah. Being adjacent to the start of a bushwalk was a bonus. Cons: When we arrived it took us ages to find the main power so that we could switch on the electricity. We also could not find any information as to how to turn on the gas heater so we only had cold water for two days and no showers. Gas bottles were required to be turned on but because one of the leads was broken it leaked gas if they were all turned on. The automatic spark for the stove wasn't working so lighting both the griller and oven was potentially dangerous. It also assumed that we were familiar with lighting a gas stove. Because a bush walk started adjacent to the property, walkers could drive and park just outside the perimeter fence. Besides intruding on the privacy of the cabin we also felt a little vulnerable since the cabin was so isolated. We think that parking for walkers should be provided further away from the cabin. The instructions for cleaning the cabin prior to leaving included wiping down all surfaces, cleaning the bathroom and toilet, removing ash from the fire and sweeping and mopping all the floors. We have never experienced this cleaning expectation at any other property that we have stayed at. This information should be included in the information on the website. If the National Park rangers are not prepared to drive to the property and check it for the next booking then they should consider employing a local cleaner to do this. It was disappointing that we never received a response from the National Park rangers even though we detailed our concerns in writing when we dropped off the key.
