The Posada de San José is a little charming hotel located in the heart of the old quarter of Cuenca. This 17th century building was originally a palace owned by Martinez del Mazo family, related to Velazquez. After, it was converted to the San José Choir School, until 1931. In 1983 the current owners reopened it, with lot of work done, improving services, comfort and quality but always retaining its spirit. There are 22 rooms with full bath (16 doubles, 2 singles and 4 junior suites), most with direct views over the gorge and some with balconies or terraces. They all have TV, central heating and hairdryer. Junior Suites are very spacious, with sitting area, king size bed, individual tea service,… The upper floor of the Posada retains 9 “cells” of the friars, teachers of San José Choir School. These 3 single and 6 double rooms have a sink in the room and there are 2 shared bathrooms in the common hallway. Within the cozy building are also found a conference room for about 20 people or the gardens, hanging dozens of meters above the river. In the dining room, guests can enjoy breakfast every morning, as well well as local gastronomy delights. There is free WiFi in the lobby area.
