Roundwood House is a Country House Hotel situated in the quiet and unspoiled county of Laois in Ireland's Ancient East. The house is almost 300 years old and is considered one of Ireland’s finest mid-size houses of the Georgian period. There are 18 acres of parkland and woods to explore around the house as well as many interesting outbuildings. For those who enjoy the great outdoors the Slieve Bloom Mountains are within a 10 minute drive and offer many beautiful and diverse walks to suit all abilities. Horse-riding, golfing and fishing are also available locally, as are many interesting historical sites. Dining at Roundwood is an experience not to be missed. Guests can choose to eat communally or at a private table and will be delighted by the quality of the food, most specifically the freshness of the ingredients. The meat comes from a nearby farm, vegetables and herbs are grown on site or sourced locally and the eggs are laid by the hens that you'll see scratching around outside. Bread, yogurt, ice-cream, marmalade, etc., are all homemade. Roundwood House offers traditional and old-school hospitality at its best, the kind that only a family-run hotel can.
