Hostel Freedom O Clock Backpackers Retreat (Coffee Bay, South Africa)

Freedom O Clock Backpackers Retreat is located in East London. This small, rustic, eco-minded family-run spot lies on the eastern side of the Mdumbi River mouth in a very rural and remote village called Mngcibe. Wake up to mind-blowing views of the ocean, beach, rare mangroves and forest-lined river. Kitchen is communal (makes for social evenings). Our self catered kitchen, with fridge/freezer, gas stove, and the usual kitchen goodies offers limited space for breakfasts and lunches only. We serve delicious home cooked breakfasts, lunches and house dinners daily. Note that we are completely off the grid, have no municipal water and only rely on harvesting rain water. The area has no electricity and we make use of solar power for lights, gas for fridge, freezer and stove, paraffin for shower. We stock a limited variety of beverages and alcoholic drinks. Be sure to bring along all your favourite treats, drinks, smokes, etc. Spazas only stock a limited amount of the very basics. Horse rides, hiking, snorkeling, fishing, surf lessons, kayaking, scenic boat cruises, cultural dancing, a traditional evening spent with a local Xhosa household (includes traditional meal) or peaceful sundowners at the river edge can all be arranged.
