Welcome to the newly renovated Villa Åsgård hostel/B&B in Jokkmokk. The village of Jokkmokk has an ancient history as an old trading place. Here, the Sami people have traded their goods for hundreds of years. Nowadays you will find all facilities of a small modern society. Villa Åsgård is right behind the tourist information in the center. The house is quite old and have traditional charm. Most touristic sites are within walking distance and if you visit us during the famous winter market in February, we are right in the middle of it. Many guests stay here on their way to their adventures in Sarek and Padjelanta National Parks. The area called Laponia is known for mountain hiking trails and the opportunities to see wild life in Europes last wilderness. If you are interested in the Sami people, their ways and traditions, we recommend a visit to the Sami museum Ájjte, five minutes walk from Åsgård. You can also visit local artists and Sami craft makers, and buy traditional handicraft made by wood, glass or silver. Villa Åsgård can also help you with information on local activities like snowmobile tours, dog sledging, northern lights, ice fishing or skiing.
