The Tavoras Country House lies within a plot of 1000 m2, located at the north end of the village of Carvalhais. It is next to the church and is two km from the town of Mirandela. It is an ideal place for those leisure travellers seeking peace and quiet in a rural area or for business travellers seeking an overnight stay in which they can feel at home. It consists of a private guest suite, a separate rustic kitchen, a swimming pool, and shaded poolside area, barbecue and access to the garden. The guest suite and rustic kitchen have been restored from ancient farm buildings using existing and reclaimed materials, shale and granite. The private guest suite has a double bedroom, bathroom and living room and totals 62.5 m2 The rustic kitchen, with an area of 53 m2, is equipped with fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, TV, dishwasher, coffee machine and open fireplace. In addition to walking and cycling in the area, guests can enjoy the pool, use fitness machines, a lawn with volleyball net, a basketball hoop, ping-pong table, and table football. We are pleased to be able to offer guests the opportunity to take part in various regional traditions such as cooking on the open fire, artisanal cheesemaking, bread making, jam making and other delicacies! It is our pleasure to let you know about these activities, about places of interest, events and cultural events in the region. Some practical notes on the accommodation: We have purposely created the guest suite without air conditioning or television. The traditional building style and materials of the region help maintain a comfortable temperature. There are window shutters for use by day while at night we recommend opening the windows using the inbuilt mosquito netting. Ceiling fans are fitted for those who like to use them. The pool is also available for you to use at night and at the hottest time of the year is very pleasant to use by moonlight. Outdoors there is an extensive shaded area by the pool. Heating in winter is provided by electric radiators with the addition of a cozy open fire in the rustic kitchen. We provide an extensive choice of books including some in English. We also provide traditional games such as cards, draughts and chess, and there is free wifi. Or, of course, you can simply let yourself be enveloped by silence, moonlight, stars, and the natural environment.
