    Mariposa Grove (Yosemite National Park, USA)

    The Mariposa Grove of giant sequoias, located at the southernmost end of Yosemite National Park. Most of the tree have individual names: The Grizzly Giant is the oldest tree in the grove at over 2,700 years old. Many trees are over seven feet in diameter and one California Tunnel Tree has been tunnelled to allow vehicles to travel through them back in 1895. The park contains around 500 specimens, most at least 1,600 years old and the tallest nearly 300 feet in height The Columbia Tree. The Faithful Couple are two trees that have over the years fused together, so appear to have one trunk but two canopies. The park is open all year, but some roads become inaccessible during the winter months. Entrance fee is $20 US per car or $10 per person.
