Orvieto Cathedral (Orvieto, Italy)

Originally designed by Arnolfo di Cambio, the Orvieto Cathedral was completed by the architect Lorenzo Maitani around 1330 although the flagstone was already laid in 1290 by Pope Nicholas IV. Built in the Romanesque-Gothic style, the cathedral features mosaic bas-reliefs on its facade and the interior boasts marble inlays and various frescoes. The cathedral is open to visitors at the following times: 07h30 to 17h15 (November - February) ; 07h30 to 18h15 (March - October) and 07h30 to 19h15 (April - September ). Please note that it is closed daily between 12h45 and 14h30. The entry tariff of 5 Euro includes access also to the Chapel of San Brizio, the Papal Palace (adjacent to the cathedral) and the former church of Saint Augustine in the city centre.
