Built by Victor Horta for the Belgian scientist Emile Tassel in 1893-1894. This building is considered to be the first example of Art Nouveau because of the materials used, its interior decoration and furniture. Horta designed each single detail like the windows, door handles, electric fittings and the furnishing. It has three main floors plus an attic and service basement. Today the building hosts private offices. Together with three other town houses of Victor Horta it was listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
