    Walton Pier (Walton-on-the-Naze, United Kingdom)

The Walton Pier is the third longest in the country and can be found at the end of the Promenade in Walton-on-the-Naze. The pier you can visit today replaces an early construction that dated back to 1830 and was one of the earliest piers constructed the UK. This 300ft long pier was destroyed during a storm and was replaced by a new 800ft long pier in 1895. This needed to be extended several times later on as the shoreline around Walton-on-the-Naze changed and measures now 2,600ft (793m), making it the 3rd longest pier in the UK. Today the pier doesn’t need to deal with seafaring passengers and the handling of goods any more but is home to an amusement and entertainment area. There are a variety of fun-fair rides for children of all ages available, a ten-pin bowling alley an amusement arcade, shops, snack bars and restaurants. In and outside sitting areas are available. Angling is possible but a day permit needs to purchased (£5,00) Public parking facilities can be found around the pier and both, public transport and the local train station, are within easy walking distance. Walton Pier is open all year round
