Brampton Valley Way (Northampton, United Kingdom)

The Brampton Valley Way is a 14 mile (22 km) walking and cycling route which runs between Market Harborough and Northampton and is managed by Northants County Council. The route uses the path of the old railway line which used to run between the two towns. Northampton and Lamport Railway Society still run restored steam-trains along a section of the route, starting from Pitsford and Brampton station. The route is well equipped with picnic spots, car parks and toilet facilities. The path is wide enough to accommodate walkers, cyclists and in some parts, horses and riders. The surface is smooth and any inclines are slight making it suitable for wheelchair users. The route passes through or near to many traditional Northamptonshire and Leicestershire villages including Chapel Brampton, Brixworth, Hanging Houghton, Lamport, Maidwell, Kelmarsh and Great Oxenden. There is no charge to use the route and it is open at all times of day and throughout the year though users would be advised not to go after dark as there is no lighting along the route.
