Brigadoon - The Bundanoon Highland Gathering (Bundanoon, Australia)

The Bundanoon Highland Gathering takes place each year in April in the Southern Highlands of NSW and each year ‘Brigadoon’ transforms the Bundanoon village into a little piece of Scotland. The Festival celebrates its 38th year in 2015 and will take place on April 11, welcoming around 12,000 people, who enjoy an official opening ceremony, a street parade, around 120 market stalls, traditional (and not so traditional) Highland Games, country dance demonstrations, pipe bands, Craig Reed and his Tartan Warriors competing to lift the Bunadoon Stones of Manhood and a closing ceremony to finish off the day. Those diehard fanatics can also continue the celebrations with the Scottish Ceilidh (Scottish Knees-up), though bookings for this are essential. Bundanoon feels like a world away from the hustle and bustle, though it is just a short 2 hour drive from Sydney and Canberra and just 45 minutes from the Illawarra region. Don’t miss out on what is one of the most popular and anticipated cultural events in Australia, and head across to the Official Website of the Brigadoon – Bundanoon Highland Gathering by clicking the link below.
