    Wollongong Harbour (Wollongong, Australia)

Wollongong Harbour is located in Belmore Basin, near the north beach of Wollongong. The harbor is home to private yachts and small fishing boats and it is also the only spot to have two lighthouses situated very close to each other in Eastern Australia. The construction of the harbor began in 1860 and the works in the port included the construction of a breakwater and basin. During the year 1869 emerged the proposed construction of lighthouses in Wollongong and Ulladulla; the buildings were manufactured in England and shipped to Australia. The actual construction began in November 1870 and was completed in 1871. The first year of operation of the lighthouse was in 1872 and it remained active until 1974. During the year 2000 the lighthouse has been restored.
